Press Pause: A Time to Mourn
A few weeks ago, I attended a Celebration of Life/Homecoming for my friend who passed away.
The Homecoming was bittersweet. It was ten years ago, when he had a brain aneurysm rupture. I was getting ready to drop him off at home but that was not in the plans for that day. The ambulance raced him to the hospital where they stabilized him. His family was in town for a funeral for another family member, so they were able to come to the hospital and get him transferred to Johns Hopkins Hospital. The surgery had numbers of 20% chance of survival. Not only did he beat the numbers, he got ten more years.
It was a very rainy day but that did not stop me from making the trip to Baltimore. All around the room, were his favorite things. The colors of his two favorite home teams –the Baltimore Oriole’s and the Baltimore Raven’s. From his personal collection pictures, memorabilia, books, magazines and music were giveaways for ‘Who Knows Jeff Best Trivia’.
It was the best remembrances that I have been to. Not a big fan of going to funerals, just glad this was not a sad affair.
He requested that his ashes be scattered at the Forest Park Golf Course.
Rest In Peace My Friend…
